Ahly beats AS Roma 4-3, EgyptAir crash cancels the celebrations
The friendly will be taking place in the United Arab Emirates at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al-Ain
The organizers of the friendly game between Egypt's Al Ahly and AS Roma have decided to cancel the celebrations accompanying the match after Thursday's EgyptAir catastrophe.
The friendly that took place in the United Arab Emirates at the 25,000-capacity Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al-Ain, ended with Al Ahly beating Roma 4-3.
The company said that the concert and the fireworks which were scheduled for the game have now been canceled in solidarity with Egypt.
It is the third meeting between the two clubs. In 2002 the two teams met for the first time, with Al Ahly winning 2-1 in Cairo. Six years later they met again in Cairo, and the Giallorossi defeated Al Ahly 3-0.
After signing Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Roma became one of the most popular European clubs in Egypt. They now have more Egyptian Facebook followers than any other European club in the world.
