The Egyptian football national team has climbed 12 places in the FIFA world ranking, reaching the 23rd position after finishing in second place during the recent AFCON tournament.

Egypt has previously won seven times in African cup tournaments and still remain on top of the African ranking.

They have reached the finals in the 2017 African Cup of Nations which took place in Gabon, after taking the lead in the group stage.

However, for the first time in fifteen years, Cameron won the nationals final defeating the Pharaohs by 2-1 in the second half.
With participations of both Al Ahly and Zamalek teams, the Egyptian pharaohs finished the match in the second place after losing to Cameron.

Since Argentinean coach Hector Cuper began managing the team in March 2015, the national team was ranked 58 worldwide.
According to FIFA’s previous world rankings, Egyptian’s performance in the AFCON 2017 raised the team’s rankings to 23rd place while it was previously ranked at 35.

It holds the top spot in the African team’s top 10 while Senegal comes in second.
