A footballer became a lifesaver when he saw the other team’s goalie was unconscious and choking on his own tongue after colliding with another player during the match.
Bohemians 1905 goalkeeper, Martin Berkovec was knocked out during the Czech Republic 1. Liga match against Slovacko, when he collided with teammate Daniel Krch.
Quick acting Slovacko striker Francis Kone saw the unconscious goalkeeper had swallowed his tongue after rushing to his side. Acting quickly he cleared Berkovec’s airway before he choked to death.
“It wasn’t the first time I’ve done that. It’s something like the fourth time. Twice in Africa, once in Thailand,” Kone told Czech media after the 0-0 draw between the sides.
Bekrovec was then rushed to the hospital as the game continued. He was later given the all clear.
