Smashing success for ‘Gulf Elite Tournament’ in Dubai

Under the sponsorship of the Emirates Equestrian Federation, Longines, Mill Capital, Generosity Water, JLL and ADG, the first jumping round of the Gulf Elite Tournament, first of its kind in the Gulf region and the Arab world, was launched last Thursday at Al-Habtoor Polo Resort & Club in Dubai. It witnessed a wide range of activities for all, adults and children, including entertainment and arts programs, and a food village.

More than 200 horses and 150 Arab and international riders, including Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Sheikh Ali Al Nuaimi, Sheikha Latifa bint Ahmed Al Maktoum, Haitham Eid, the UAE team and other renowned riders in the equestrian world Well participated in the six-round Tournament which ends in April 2018. In attendance were VIPs, artists, members of the press and distinguished guests.

Commenting on the event, Rosanna Chopra, the Tournament’s CEO and Managing Director, said: ‘For the first time, the Gulf Elite Tournament is organized in the UAE’. We endeavor to make it one of the finest regional equestrian and show jumping Competition. This is primarily due to the fact that its activities offer young riders the opportunity to participate in competitions, while it offers the experienced professionals the chance to improve their Rank. In addition to equestrian shows, the Tournament showcases other activities, such as fashion, music, arts, retail, exhibitions, food and beverage, and 5-star hospitality.


"This sport is able to unite and empower people. Furthermore, it motivates individuals to become champions of change” Chopra added.

Apart from the Arena, the public enjoyed 5-star hospitality in a family-friendly lounge that catered food for all tastes. It also attracted VIPs and elite members of the community.

This sport offers participants an incredible opportunity, not only to enjoy the finest equestrian shows but also enjoy superb activities of arts, fashion and music. This makes sports even more exciting, as it offers all family members the activities the like best. Therefore, it can be safely said that equestrian sports are able to offer the world the best and most exciting destinations, the second round will take place on 9 and 10 November 2017.


In the Small Tour, Mohammed Shafi Al-Rumaithi riding Lekandu came first at 79:62 seconds; Hamad Ali Al Karbi riding Balucenta came second at 84:47 seconds; and Fadi Zubaybi on Calvara came in third at 85:84 seconds.

In the Medium Tour, Sheikh Ali Jamal Al Nuaimi riding Celtic came first at 78:68 seconds; Mohammed Shafi Al Rumaithi on Duxan B came second at 79:36 seconds; and Muafi Aweida Al Karbi on Calvaro Star came in third at 86:76 seconds.

The Gulf Elite Tournament first round included morning activities for children and families, red carpet for hosting the stars of various artistic, media and sports fields. A concert was also held and was attended by VIPs, artists, members of the press, the riders and the official event sponsors.
