VIDEO: Egypt’s Olympic swimmer Farida Osman on breaking records, stereotypes

During last year’s World Championships 22-year-old Egyptian Farida Osman was able to her own African record in a time of 25.39 in the 50 fly final.

Her achievements and medals won so far are not lost on her, as she hopes her wins will be used to break stereotypes on Arab women, especially athletes.

“I hope all my achievements and medals will be used to inspire young athletes, especially females, because I want to show the world how the stereotype that Arab women are not able to excel in sports wrong,” she told Al Arabiya English.
