Legendary Aboutrika hints at possible return to Egypt

Published: Updated:

Egypt’s legendary footballer Mohamed Aboutrika has hinted at his possible return to Egypt on Twitter, and fans just can’t calm down anymore!

The Ahly Club retired star has posted the word “soon” and a flag of Egypt on his official Twitter account.

His followers on twitter couldn’t remain silent upon reading his post, with many current players in Egypt like Ahmed Magdy and goalkeeper Ali Lotfy writing back to him saying they can't wait for his comeback.

Magdy wrote: “Safely come back! Aboutrika is a well-respected player in Egypt.”

Egyptian comedian Mohammad Henedy also wrote to Aboutrika to express his happiness over the news.

Court verdict

“Have a safe return, you beloved by people,” Henedy replied to the footballer.

Egypt’s Court of Cassation has recommended to accept an appeal submitted from Aboutrika’s lawyers to cancel a court verdict by the Cairo Criminal Court which added the player’s name on a terror list in January 2017.

Aboutrika currently lives in Doha. He was accused of being an affiliate of the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood and had his funds frozen. The player has denied the allegations and was not charged with any criminal case.
