The candidate will be required to report and write news stories and features based on interviews, online research or reporting. The subject matter of your reporting could include business, political and general news. There is a premium placed on your ability to develop sources and generate exclusive news stories of relevance to our core audiences. You will be required to work as a multimedia journalist, including video and audio. In addition to writing news, you will be required to coordinate coverage with colleagues, working in a collaborative manner to overcome obstacles and produce high quality journalism. You might also be required to liaise with stringers and contributors, and at times copy edit and publish stories, both on the website and on social media. You will work in a data-rich news environment, monitoring the performance of your stories, adding richness to the content where required, including embedding tweets, photographs, charts, infographics and animated maps. You will also monitor news wires, social media and other online sources to stay ahead of the competition.

The candidate will be required to be a key member of the video production and editing team, creating multimedia content for digital platforms. You will create unique, informative, engaging and insightful multimedia content and support editorial teams in news creation. You will take a proactive approach to identifying and developing relevant stories, create an events schedule and establish a database of credible sources. Part of your role will be to identify and acquire User Generated Content that can be published by Al Arabiya.
This is an opportunity to shape Al Arabiya English’s video production team and multimedia coverage. You will be in a position to create strong content and have the opportunity to cover regional and international events, develop our multimedia content, and collaborate with the editorial team.
The editorial team works closely together in a fast-paced environment. You will report to the Senior Video Editor and work closely with different editorial and production departments.
As a Video Producer, you will ensure our video news is timely and relevant. You will be responsible for creating content and presenting it in a way that has maximum impact. You will help conduct forward planning of events and story coverage.
You will be required to think innovatively on how best to present content to make it impactful and relevant to a digital audience. This could involve the use of graphics, data visualization and other technologies.
You will be required to collaborate with the Al Arabiya network, Al Arabiya.net English correspondents, and regional stringers, as well as other members of the news, production, and the social media team to generate and drive multimedia content. This could be in the form of producing short videos for social media, using user generated content or making longer documentary-style videos.
Continuously evaluate editorial content, determine what has relevance to readers and develop value-added news and information. Look for news and enterprise story opportunities. Develop and maintain productive relationships with a broad base of key online sources.
