A three-tone (3,000 kilo) stone has fallen from a wall surrounding a pharaonic tomb outside Cairo but the burial site was not damaged, Egypt's ministry of antiquities said on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday morning and work was on to restore the stone to its position, the ministry said, adding that Antiquities Minister Mohamed Ibrahim had visited the site on Saturday.
The tomb, which has no paintings inside it to indicate from which era it belongs, is located south of the Great Pyramid in Giza, an official from the ministry told AFP.
The ministry said the stone came off due to the deterioration caused by the often humid weather, adding that it had already once been repaired in the 1960s.
Restoration work is expected to be completed by Sunday.
