Still thinking about getting into a high-speed car chase with the Dubai police? Once again, think again.
The police announced this week that it would be adding more luxury cars to its already flashy force.
Lieutenant Abdullah al-Mataywi told Al Arabiya that a Mercedes G63, Mercedes SL 63, two Audi R8 and Nissan Sklyine GT-R would be added to the fleet. He did not specify a time frame for the introduction of the cars.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 12th edition of the Dubai International Motor Show, Mataywi added that these cars will only be used in patrols in Dubai’s tourist areas. They will not, according to him, be used for the high speed pursuit of any fleeing criminals.
The Dubai Police already has a BMW, Mercedes SLS, Bentley Continental GT Coupe, Aston Martin ONE77, Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari 4 among its fleet of green and white police cars.
