One Direction pretty boy Zayn Malik has appeared in a widely circulated video smoking what seems to be marijuana on his way to a concert venue in Peru, reported the Daily Mail.
The five-minute video, which was shot on April 27, shows Zayn Malik laughing and talking to co-band member Louis Tomlinson who narrates behind the camera.
An unknown male asks if they are “allowed to talk contraband in this [video],” to which Tomlinson responded saying, “yes of course. That’s what it’s about...”
Tomlinson then asks, “where’s the lighter? Can anybody pass me a lighter please? I want to light up. You got a lighter?”
Tomlinson then focuses the camera on Malik and says: “Zayn takes his job very seriously. He makes sure he goes through an intense two-hour warm up, raging before every show just to get himself in the zone. One very, very important factor to Zayn’s warm up of course is Mary J (referring to the street name for cannabis) herself. In fact I will present it to him now for some fantastic singing.”
Tomlinson then passes on an already lit-up roll to Malik.
Later in the video, Malik is seen lighting up a roll and blowing smoke in the direction of the camera.
Tomlinson pans the camera to the window showing a policeman in a motorcycle passing by and commented, “he’s having a look. He’s thinking, ‘I’m sure I can smell an illegal substance in there.’ And he’s hit the nail on the head.”
According to the Daily Mail report, the video is likely to infuriate big boss Simon Cowell who launched the boy band on his Syco Records label.
When asked to comment on the issue, a spokesperson for One Direction was quoted as saying, “the matter is now in the hands of our lawyers.”
One Direction, considered one of the wealthiest boy bands in British music history, has just recently announced that they will bring their tour to Dubai next April.
