Obama ‘not invited’ to Clooney wedding: report

U.S. president too busy confronting domestic and foreign crises to attend star’s wedding, says Clooney spokesman

U.S. president Barack Obama has “more important things to do” than attend George Clooney’s wedding to British Lebanese human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, a spokesman for the movie star told the New York Post.

Earlier, the National Enquirer reported that the U.S. president had RSVP’d for the ceremony. That report has now been denied by Clooney’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, who said Obama had not been issued an invitation.

The lavish wedding is to take place around the end of September, according to E! News.

The president, who is a longtime friend of Clooney, is facing multiple crises abroad—notably in Iraq, Syria, Ukraine and Somalia—while also juggling domestic policy issues including the aftermath of race riots in Ferguson, Mo.
