UAE sets Guinness world record for largest bus mosaic

The country is no stranger to breaking records

If you were flying over the UAE on Wednesday, chances are you probably saw the largest bus mosaic record being broken.

The country is no stranger to breaking records, from the world’s tallest building to the longest driverless commute, and now it has created the world’s largest bus mosaic to celebrate the UAE’s national day, which falls on December 3.

The UAE Department of Transport has assembled 156 buses, each with the roof colored to represent the flag.

“We set the minimum requirement to accomplish the record, which was 150 buses. They managed to successfully have 156 buses to form the UAE national flag,” Samer Khallouf, project manager for the Middle East and North Africa at Guinness World Records, told The National.

Aerial images of the buses were taken to decide if they really did assemble the UAE flag, according to The National.

This record is relatively new, and the closest thing to it came in 2011, when Chevrolet assembled the largest car mosaic in South Korea to celebrate the company’s 100th birthday.
