A wedding ceremony in India descended into chaos when the groom fell to the ground suffering an epileptic fit and his outraged bride-to-be offered her hand to a guest, The India Times has reported.

The bizarre turn of events happened at during the varmala ceremony where the groom garlands his future wife.

Jugal Kishore, 25, extended his arms towards his bride Indira, and then suddenly fell to the ground suffering the seizure.

Rather than showing concern for the groom, Indira apparently complained that his health conidition had been concealed from her and her family and promptly announced that she would ‘happily marry a guest at the wedding’ - a man called Harpal Singh – who happened to be her sister’s brother-in-law, the report added.

The ceremony - with new groom chosen then went ahead without any complications, until Kishore – who had been taken away by medics - regained consciousness. The jilted man pleaded for Indira to change her mind.

Initially he told her that he would face ridicule for been left before they had even tied the knot. Then violent scenes erupted.

A complaint filed with police over the bride’s indiscretion was later dropped after elders intervened.
