Baby born in amniotic sac hailed as ‘medical miracle’

Doctors described the birth as a ‘moment of awe’

A baby was born in perfect health while still encased in his amniotic sac, in a case that has been heralded as a “medical miracle” by doctors, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

Silas Philips was delivered three months premature at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California and during the C-section on the mother doctors were amazed to see his amniotic sac was still intact.

Essential to the fetus’ growth, amniotic fluid helps to cushion the baby from bumps and injury, maintains a constant temperature for the baby and provides it with fluids it can breathe and swallow.

Doctors described the birth as a “moment of awe,” according to CBS.
