Man allegedly suffering financial woes sets himself on fire in Lebanon
This marks the second time this year where a man has lit himself on fire in Lebanon.
A man purportedly suffering from poverty set himself on fire in the Lebanese village of Marwanieh on Tuesday, the state-owned National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The man survived the self-inflicted ordeal but he is suffering from severe burns on his extremities and back after dousing himself in gasoline and setting it alight, NNA said, explaining that his attempt to end his life was due to severe financial and social strains.
The man is in a stable condition after he was admitted into intensive care at a hospital.
This is not the first time a man in Lebanon sets himself alight.
An earlier incident involved a man from a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon who set himself on fire in protest against a change in health care and hospitalization regulations by the Palestinian refugee agency, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency said in early 2016.
