Did Syria use Game of Thrones music in Aleppo tourism video?
The promotional video showed scenic footage of the western, government-held side of the city
When we see videos of Aleppo, it’s usually the sound of barrel bombs, images of crying babies, scenes of destroyed buildings, yet this isn’t what you will see in the recently released video of the city by the Syrian Tourism Ministry.
The promotional video, apparently filmed using a drone camera, showed scenic footage of the western, government-held side of the city – a contrast to what some have described as a ‘living hell’ in the rebel-held part of Aleppo.
Posted on the ministry's Facebook page showcasing beautiful parks and hotel pools, the video features a musical cover that bizarrely resembles the theme track of the hit US TV show the Game of Thrones.
The video of the war-torn city, which has dominated news headlines, ironically ends with a line “Aleppo … Will of Life.”
