Father of Saudi girl in tiger attack shocked about trainer’s release
The zoo faced scrutiny after a video of the incident went viral on social media
The father of a Saudi girl who was attacked by a tiger in the city of Sakakah has said he will appeal directly to the governor of al-Jawf after hearing reports that the zoo trainer and owners were released from prison.
Yasser al-Suwailem, the girl’s father, said he was surprised to learn that the trainer and his team were back at the zoo performing with the animals.
This time around, the wild animals were reportedly behind metal bars and al-Suwailem was told by authorities that it was not illegal for showcasing tigers to the public.
Late last month, the zoo faced media and public scrutiny after a video of the tiger attacking the girl went viral on social media. Bystanders could be seen screaming and trying to rescue the girl from the wild animal’s grip.
