Video: Saudi soldier to his wife, ‘I love you and will not forget you’

In a one-minute video sent to his wife, Saudi soldier Yahya al-Ghazwani expressed his love and affection to his wife from inside a trench in the frontline at the Saudi-Yemen borders.

In the video, Ghazwani tells his wife: “My dear wife, Taline’s mother, I swear to God I love you. You have a special place in my heart and I have not forgotten you.”

“I know about the suffering you’re going through and about the pain I’ve put you through but this is my country, the stronghold of Islam. This is my religion and I must be here in this position and all Muslims must be as well,” he added while also apologizing to her as if he had ever neglected her.

Ghazwani told Al Arabiya.net the video circulated on social media networks, although it was private, adding that this did not upset him as the message was not only to his wife but also to his brothers, the soldiers on the Saudi borders and different fronts.

He added that the message of protecting the homeland is precious and even more precious than one’s life.

Among those who reacted to Ghazwani’s video is poet Suliman al-Saqaby who wrote on Twitter: “It’s a message of love and loyalty to his wife from the heart of the battlefield and to the heart of the country. Yahya, you will return victorious and hold our head up high.”
