Social media is a platform where people can connect and share online. However, it can also become a tool for self-marketing.
When a young and ambitious Saudi student,@MashaelAlZaid, posted a video to @elm, a leading company in the field of innovation, asking for an internship opportunity, she did not expect to receive such an overwhelming response from social media users who expressed their admiration for her efforts. There were even offers from companies wanting to hire her.
In the video, the computer science student, said that she is “Interested in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship”. She added that she “learns from other people’s creativity and determination.”
Al-Zaid said she took part in local and international programs in coding leadership and that she wants to complete her academic studies with a working experience at Elm.
“I am interested in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. I also learn from the creative ideas of others and their perseverance. I have participated in a number of local and international programs for coding and leadership, and I want to finish my academic studies with a new experience that I can not forget.”
The creative video, which was posted on Saturday March 25 on twitter, has received 500,000 views just three days after it was posted.
As soon as Mashael Al-Zaid published the video through her Twitter account, including her bio, it caught the attention of companies who rushed to offer her a position in their firm.
