Killer whale seen swimming through UAE waters

Published: Updated:

A video going viral on social media in the United Arab Emirates shows an Orca, also known as killer whale, swimming around Umm al Quwain waters.

The clip shows the orca swimming around, getting closer to the boat carrying the man filming. As it swims forward the man motors away.

Orcas, or killer whales, are the largest of the dolphin species, according to National Geographic. They feast on marine mammals such as seals, sea lions, and even whales, employing teeth that can be four inches long.

Ministry warning

Many in the UAE have voiced their concern over whether or not the mammal is dangerous, to which the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment replied saying a heavy fine will be imposed on anyone who harms these animals who are harmless to humans.
