An Egyptian mother came under fire this week after a video clip of her two underage daughters went viral on Facebook, showing them singing and dancing to content deemed inappropriate for children.
The music video showed Laila al-Shabah’s eight-year-old and six-year-old daughters arguing over a boy, with each singing: “This boy is mine..his name is on my arm.”
Shabah, an owner of a real estate firm and a production company, said she picked that song because “the director and the songwriter convinced me that these type of lyrics are the ones popular in our society.”
The mother produced the video, however according to a lawyer, the mother’s actions could be seen as “exploitation of children.”
“The verbal content in the clip is not acceptable to all people,” lawyer Mahmoud al-Badawy claimed, threatening to file a suit against Shabah
