Saudi Bear Grylls? Adventurer grabs attention for love of snakes, wild animals

Published: Updated:

Some are labelling Hani al-Nafiee as Saudi Arabia’s version of popular British adventurer and television personality Bear Grylls. With his expertise in handling cobra snakes and wild animals and videos of him hitting hundreds of thousands of views, it’s not hard to see the comparison.

The 27-year-old man from said his relationship with wild and predatory animals first began to develop emotionally for him when he was a 10-years-old.

“When I was young, maybe around nine or ten, I came to face-to-face with a cobra snake for the first time. I did not have a car or a cell phone at the time and my brothers were very far away from me. I picked up a stick and dropped it to grab the cobra’s attention,” Nafiee told Al Arabiya.

“I pressed the stick on her head, and then picked it up with my hand so the fear inside me was lost, and then this creature lost its prestige in my eyes,” he added.
