Gulf woman stole 11 million dirhams to spend on her beloved

Published: Updated:

It seems that love makes people do unethical things. Love made a 33 year-old woman steal 11 million dirhams to spend on a young man who promised to marry her although he is married.

According to Colonel Tariq Khalfan al-Ghoul, deputy director of the Department of Criminal Investigation, the suspect spent millions of dirhams on the young man and his brother; through giving cash, buying prestigious cars, international trademark watches and other expensive gifts.

She used her position as head of one of the accounting departments responsible for serving “elite” clients, taking advantage of one of her colleagues by making a transaction with limits that do not comply with the procedures.

Al-Ghoul said that they succeeded in regaining some of the stolen money and items. The suspect admitted to the crime and said that she wanted to provide financial support to the one who promised her marriage; the young man and his brother admitted their involvement, manipulation and exploitation of the woman, and were all directed to public prosecution, to complete the rest of the legal proceedings.
