A group of Turkish students create fire-fighting robot

Published: Updated:

A group of students from the electrical and electronics engineering faculty at the Turkish Osmangazi university have developed a fire-fighting robot.

The robot includes a fire-sensing system, enabling the machine to move accordingly and put out the fire, either automatically or with a remote control.

Speaking to the Turkish Anadolu news agency, university professor Fuad Bersaglia said that the robot will limit human intervention when it comes to putting out a fire.

He added that the students were able to develop the robot within 3 months.

The robot “minimizes the losses that can be inflicted on humans while extinguishing a fire,” he said.

Team spokesperson Gohkan Ayaz said that the robot can enter spaces and location humans find it hard to reach. This helps cut down the financial and human losses, he added.
