Assad’s son ranks 528 out of 615 at the International Mathematical Olympiad
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s son, Hafez al-Assad, placed 528 out of 615 participants in the International Mathematical Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, disappointing the Syrian regime.
Assad failed to accumulate results expected of him by the regime, which describes him as highly intelligent. He ranked last out of his team, which includes six other Syrian students, with a fail margin of 22% between him and his teammates.
The embarrassing results lead to humiliating comments from many Syrians on social media.
