Jack Davis, a nine-year-old fourth grade student has taken interest in NASA’s recent job opening to become the next Planetary Protection Officer (PPO), CBS News reported on Saturday.
Davis, a New Jersey resident wrote a letter to NASA expressing his passion for the job and what qualifies him as the next PPO.
In his letter, Davis proclaims himself as a Guardian of the Galaxy, and notes that despite his young age, he is familiar with various science-fiction shows including Marvel Agents of Shield among other alien related movies. “I am young, so I can learn to think like an alien,” concluded Davis in his letter.
NASA’s Planetary Science Director Jim Green responded to Davis’ letter with great support. In his response, Green explained a PPO’s job to Davis which holds an estimated annual salary of $124,000 to $187,000.
Green concluded his letter with words of encouragement to the young enthusiast saying: “We are always looking for bright future scientists and engineers to help us, so I hope you will study hard and do well in school. We hope to see you here at NASA one of these days.”
