Former Barca star Xavi is surprise winner in Doha Bank’s millionaire lucky draw

Former Barcelona footballer Xavi, now playing for Al Sadd Sports Club in Doha, was announced as the winner of the Al Dana millionaire scheme by Doha Bank for June, 2017.

The 37-year-old Xavi, who recently won the Emir of Qatar and Qatar Crown Prince Cup with Al Sadd, was awarded the millionaire cheque of $270,000 (I million Qatar riyals) by Doha Bank on Monday.

The win was nine months after the ace midfielder opened an account with the bank.

“Winning the cash prize was an unexpected but welcome surprise,” he was quoted as saying.

Xavi said he had opened his account with Doha Bank on December 5, 2016, after he heard about the Al Dana program and about how Doha Bank “encourages their customers to save money, and get a chance to become millionaires as well as the opportunity to win other cash prizes.”

The win from Doha Bank was certain to have brought smiles to the former Spanish captain, who reportedly gets a $12 million annual paycheck from Al Sadd.
