Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif became the latest politician to be at the receiving end of a shoe hurled at him by former student of a seminary he was visiting.
According to reports reaching here, the event occurred at a seminary he was visiting in Lahore. Even though the shoe hit the ousted prime minister in the chest, he was unhurt and later addressed the gathering.
The attacker, identified as Talha Munawwar, was detained and handed over to the police, the Geo News report said. The police said that they have arrested two other suspicious persons from the seminary.
According to those present during the incident, the attacker was chanting slogans in favor of a religious party which carried out a prolonged protest against the government in Islamabad last year.
