How a company loses millions every time Mohamed Salah scores a goal

Published: Updated:

Egyptian telecommunications giant, Vodafone, has signed a sponsorship deal with Liverpool and is offering its 43 million clients 11 minutes of free calls every time Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah scores a goal.

The sponsorship deal was signed two weeks ago by the managing director of the club and Vodafone’s CEO. The offer began on March 20 and will continue until the end of the season.

According to Vodafone’s pricing of every minute of calls, 11 free minutes to every client would cost them about $140 million.

And with Mohamed Salah’s impeccable performance since the beginning of the premier league, it looks like the telecoms company will be sacrificing a lot from their pocket.

Salah is the top scorer of the league with a total of 28 goals so far, closely followed by Tottenham’s Harry Kane who’s bagged 24 goals.
