Owner of a 60-year-old restaurant in New Delhi is continuing a unique family tradition – dipping his hand in frying oil – that attracts customers and onlookers.
Ganesh restaurant gets hundreds of curious onlookers who want to see how the owner fry snacks with his bare hands.
Deepak Kumar, owner of Ganesh restaurant, has learned the trick from his father, Prem Kumar, who was known for his unusual ways of cooking. Prem Kumar died of cancer earlier this year but his son is continuing his legacy.
“My grandfather started the restaurant in 1960s. I am the third generation owner,” says Deepak Kumar.
Kumar says that the burning oil is hot for him as well but he has practiced this for years. “This is why I can do this with ease”, he says.
I am continuing this practice. Let us see what happens in the next generation.
