French President Emmanuel Macron held a gala dinner at the Elysee Palace for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday in the presence of a number of French and Saudi officials.
MbS in Paris: “Before coming to Paris I was in Texas with President Bush, father and son, and they knew that I’m coming to Paris, so they gave me barbecue sauce. They said if you don’t like the French food you can use the barbecue sauce. So we’ll see today if I’ll use it or not.” pic.twitter.com/g5CpOzywXI— Mohammed K. Alyahya (@7yhy) April 11, 2018
At the beginning of the dinner, the Saudi crown prince delivered a speech about Saudi Arabia’s plans then jokingly said that he had a bottle of barbecue sauce in case he did not like the food.
He said that while he was in Texas meeting with President George H.W. and son George W. Bush, they gave him barbecue sauce and said: “If you don’t like the French food, you can use the bbq sauce.”
“So we will see today I will use it or not, and I hope that I will not use that sauce,” he added then said: “Let’s start the dinner.”
