The Community Development Authority in Dubai, which is launching the initiative Their Suhour is On Us during the holy month of Ramadan, will deliver Suhour (pre-dawn) meals to mosques and surrounding areas with the help of drones.
There are approximately 700 volunteers participating in the initiative, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of Suhour meal by distributing it to laborers, raise awareness about the importance of voluntary work and encourage the community and organizations towards social service and responsibility.
Halima Mohammed, the head of the CDA Youth Council, called on more people to volunteer and noted that involving people with determination was important and they had to find ways to allow them to participate in distributing meals. She added that people with determination will supervise carrying these meals and monitor their delivery.
Khalfan Obeid, who designed the unmanned aerial vehicles system, said this is an innovative idea that stores information and a map of the targeted locations in aerial vehicles to follow specific routes.
Obeid said they will train to use them this week, adding that eight charging batteries were imported for these vehicles which are set to carry around 10 kilograms of Suhour meals.
