WATCH: Heavy rain lashes Oman as videos emerge of residents risking their lives
Oman's police force has warned residents of heavy rainfall that has flooded the country and is expected to continue in the upcoming days.
Valleys in the country flooded, while videos of residents risking their lives circulated on social media, leading authorities to issue warnings.
The police warned that deliberately entering these valleys is an offense punishable by a hefty fine and jail time.
According to the Times of Oman, the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance said: “Rescue teams from the department are already in place in the province of Buraimi to secure roads that cross the valley of Sharm in the state of Muhaddah, in anticipation of heavy rains and flooding in the state.”
