Dubai Police warns against using free online games

Published: Updated:

The Dubai Police has warned UAE residents from downloading and using free online games to avoid getting hacked.

Many online games expose user information to hackers, making them prone to identity theft and financial fraud.

The Dubai Police issued a new advisory on their social media accounts stating that easy to download free online games exploit users’ personal information.

“Most “Free” online games make profit through collecting and exploiting personal information thus violating your privacy, so be careful and spread awareness among your family members,” Dubai Police wrote on their official Twitter account.

According to statistics gathered by Statista, eight billion dollars was spent on downloading and playing PC and console games in 2017 alone. The amount is estimated to reach $11 billion in 2022.
