WATCH: Dubai airport takes the lead in starting Saudi National Day celebrations

The UAE has begun celebrating Saudi Arabia’s 88th National Day starting with the Dubai International Airport.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai tweeted a series of initiatives that took place at the airport where staff were pictured welcoming Saudi travelers with flowers, flags and sweets. The airport has also created a special entry stamp to celebrate the occasion, which has the Saudi flag on it.

Stickers with the hashtag ‘together forever’ written on them, as well as ‘Saudi Arabia – UAE’ were also seen around the airport. The sticker also had the Saudi swords and palm tree, which are seen on its flag, and the UAE’s emblem, the golden falcon.

A water salute was also done for a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight as it reached the runway of Dubai Airport to celebrate the kingdom’s national day as well.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai tweeted that the celebrations were done "in order to strengthen the brotherly relations of cooperation and bonds of love between the two brotherly peoples, wishing them (Saudi Arabia) good luck, progress and prosperity."
