UAE actress fined $27,000 for posting picture of private individual on Snapchat
An actress in Abu Dhabi was fined $27,225 (100,000 AED) for taking a picture of a private man and posting it on her personal Snapchat account on Monday.
The woman’s lawyer said that the man was aware that she was recording him as she was trying to prove that an incident he was involved in took place, according to Khaleej Times.
“The actress is a leading actress in the UAE and has an international following, and this man has taken her to court to extort money from her,” the actress’s lawyer told the newspaper.
The actress had posted the pictures and a video on her Snapchat account. However, the video of him posted on Youtube, which received one million views, was not published by her, the newspaper reported.
The first court ruled that the actress pay the fine and confiscated her phone. The actress appealed the ruling.
