Fresh graduates can now extend their residence visas in the UAE for two years
After graduating high school, young residents of the UAE can now obtain a one-year extension on their resident visa twice, according to the new visa reforms to be implemented next week.
Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, acting director-general of foreigners affairs and ports at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, explained that dependent residents, whether they just graduated high school or university, can now extend their stay in the UAE with this new decision.
The new decision is especially beneficial to male students above 18, since female residents have always been able to reside in the country under their parent’s visa until they are married or wish to be sponsored by an employer.
Searching for a job can be a long process, but with this new decision, young residents will now worry less about their residential status as they begin their career life.
