WATCH: Trump farm bill video tweet comes as breath of fresh air

A video showing Trump and an actress dressed as farmers, singing the Green Acres theme to celebrate the 2019 farm bill, has caught social media’s imagination.

“Farm Bill signing in 15 minutes! #Emmys #TBT,” Trump wrote accompanying the video clip of the performance.

Trump’s tweet has brought comic relief in an otherwise vitiated bipartisan debate over government shutdown and his much talked about decisions to withdraw troops from Syria and Afghanistan.

The clip, tagged #TBT for “throwback Thursday,” dates from the 2005 Emmy Awards and his partner on stage is actress Megan Mullally of Will & Grace.

The theme song for Green Acres is from the 1960s sitcom about a New York-transplant who leaves everything behind to run his own farm. The video has elicited mixed response from social media followers.

The five-year farm policy legislation passed both the House and Senate with strong bipartisan support on Wednesday. It is being seen as monumental legislation that addresses a wide range of areas including farming, nutrition, conservation, trade, energy and forestry.
