IDF edits photo to show Khamenei, Suleimani, and Nasrallah in ‘Mean Girls’ scene

Published: Updated:

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) official Twitter account posted a picture on Friday of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – Quds Force (IRGC – QF) commander Qassem Soleimani, and Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah edited into a scene of the American chick-flick movie “Mean Girls.”

Captioned “there’s no one meaner than the mean girls of the Middle East,” the photo was posted on October 3, considered “Mean Girls Day” by the movie’s wide fan base.

The tweet by the IDF used the hashtags #MeanGirlsDay and #DontSitWithThem, the latter inspired by a line from the movie.

The original photo of the Iranian and Lebanese officials, which was edited onto the scene, was published by the Iranian supreme leader’s official website on September 29 and marketed as a “never before seen” photo.

The IRGC – QF is the operational arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, tasked with promoting Iran’s interests and carrying out attacks abroad. Hezbollah is an Iran-backed organization based in Lebanon which has been designated as a terrorist organization by the US, UK, and Arab League among others.

Israel recently accused the IRGC – QF of planning to attack it from an Iranian base in Syria.
