‘Tehran, we have a problem:’ Iran’s ICT minister apologizes for spacesuit gaffe

Published: Updated:

Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology apologized Wednesday for posting a photo on Twitter of what appeared to be Iran’s spacesuit, only to be exposed by social media users who identified it as nothing more than a $20 Halloween costume.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA quoted Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi as saying his department's advertising team “undeniably made a mistake in choosing the image" and apologized to “the people and space scientists" of Iran.

Jahromi, a former intelligence officer and currently the youngest member of Iran’s cabinet, removed the original tweet posted on February 5, which showed a shiny silver Halloween costume, with the NASA and US flag patches removed and an Iranian flag stitched on in its place.
