Coronavirus: Guests at a wedding in Saudi Arabia offered hand sanitizers

Male guests during a recent wedding reception held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, were offered hand sanitizers, a viral video posted by the groom’s father on Twitter shows.

“After offering food, meat, oud, and other good things, we now sanitize our guests from the corona(virus),” Mohammed bin Howgan, a locally known poet in Jeddah, tweeted with the video on March 13.

Saudi Arabia formally suspended all international flights into and out of the Kingdom on Sunday for two weeks in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision has come as Saudi Arabia has recorded 86 cases of the virus so far, but no deaths, according to the health ministry.

“Being cautious is an obligation, Abu Khaled. We are abstaining from our customs and traditions and are taking care of the safety of the entire community,” one Twitter user said.
