After Italy, several videos have emerged from Iran showing people in self-imposed quarantine in the capital Tehran playing music and singing from their apartments.

Several videos showed Iranians singing “Ey Iran,” an Iranian popular patriotic song, which many Iranians consider the unofficial de facto national anthem of Iran.

Another video showed Iranians playing and singing along to a song by Hayedeh, a popular Iranian singer whose music is officially banned in the Islamic Republic. Hayedeh fled Iran shortly before the Islamic Revolution and died in 1990 in the US.

The videos all appear to be from Ekbatan town in western Tehran.

Another video also showed people playing a song by exiled Iranian singer Ebrahim Hamedi, known as “Ebi,” whose music is also banned in Iran.

Ebi was part of a group of Iranian exiled singers who performed at a concert in Saudi Arabia earlier this month.

Videos from several Italian cities had previously emerged showing people singing and dancing from their windows and balconies during a nationwide lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.
