Watch: Passenger and flight attendant slap each other in fight over seat row
A video showing a fight between a passenger and a flight attendant on a Brussels Airlines flight has gone viral online.
The video shows a passenger and a supervisor slapping each other during a heated standoff after the passenger reportedly complained about space on the plane. It has been shared on several websites, but the original one, posted by another passenger on the plane called Carmen Moore on Facebook, appears to be deleted.
One Facebook page linked the fight to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, captioning it: “During a global pandemic - spitting into the face of flight attendants.”
Media websites said the passenger had complained about two men who were elbowing his mother-in-law but wasn’t attended to by staff, which led to the dispute.
The video starts with the passenger telling a flight attendant “to not put his hands” on him, with the voice of a woman - who appears to be the man's wife - saying “he put his hands on my husband.”
A female cabin crew supervisor then interferes and tells the passenger to calm down and not touch an attendant, prompting other passengers to say that the flight attendant had hit the passenger first.
The passenger is heard saying: “They’re saying I hit him. He hit me.”
The supervisor then tells the passenger that his complaint had been heard, and that if he doesn’t calm down he “will get in trouble.” The passenger then swears at the woman, who slaps him. He slaps her back before several people jump in to restrain him.
The flight was traveling from Accra, Ghana to Brussels, Belgium on March 11 when the incident happened.
