Trump retweets TikTok video act of kindess: ‘Faith in humanity has been restored’
US President Donald Trump retweeted on Sunday a TikTok video showing a man saving a seemingly sick elderly man standing in the middle of a car intersection.
The video, originally posted by Twitter user “El limite del mal” and picked up by “Urgent News,” was coupled with the caption “faith in humanity has been restored. Sir… You’re my hero.”
The elderly man in the video seems to have lost his way and is standing still in the middle of the road, despite cars having the green light to go. As cars swerve to avoid the man, one young man stops his car and gets out to carry the elderly man on his back and take him to the sidewalk.
The comments on the post quickly turned into a referendum on President Trump, who is campaigning for a second term amid historical unemployment rates and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
There’s no parallel in US history for the suddenness or severity of the economic collapse, which is ravaging some states that are crucial to Trump’s victory.
The president is now tasked with convincing voters that the catastrophic jobs losses were the result of the coronavirus pandemic — not his management of the public health crisis. He also argues that he deserves another chance to rebuild what the virus destroyed.
