Belgian man receiving pizzas for 10 years he never ordered in the first place

A 65-year-old Belgian has been receiving pizzas delivered to his home for years. The problem is that he never ordered a single one.

For 10 years, Jean Van Landeghem has regularly received pizzas at his home without having ordered them. One day in January 2019, he even had ten different delivery men ring his doorbell, one of whom was carrying 14 boxes of pizza.

Initially, Van Landeghem thought it was a case of another pizza-loving customer who was giving the wrong address to restaurants.

But then something strange started to happen: A friend of his who lived nearly 32 kilometers away had also started receiving pizza deliveries he never placed an order for. They would end up calling one another to warn about the impending mystery delivery that would end up on their doorstep.

“I cannot sleep anymore. I start shaking every time I hear a scooter on the street. I dread that someone will come to drop off hot pizzas yet another time,” Van Landeghem told Het Laatste Nieuws, a Dutch-language Belgian newspaper.

Van Landeghem said that he has never paid for the food deliveries, but has been sending it back to restaurants instead.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper, Belgian police are aware of the incidents and are currently investigating the matter.

Both Van Landeghem and his friend believe their predicament of surprise pizza deliveries might just be a longstanding prank being pulled by a mutual friend or acquaintance, adding that “it would not be their best day” when they eventually find out who the person is.
