A Syrian child presumed dead in chemical attacks has been found and reunited with his father, the heartwarming reunion was posted by activists on YouTube.
The video was posted on Monday, attracting over 2 million views by Thursday.
The man seen in the video, embracing the young child, has not been formally identified in news reports but is thought to be from Zamalka, an area just outside of Damascus, Syria.
Surrounded by people, the father talks quietly in the video and clasps the child to his chest amidst exclamations of “Allahu Akbar.”
“I am here baba, I'm with you,” he says.
The father first sets eyes on his son at 1:18, and finally has him back in his arms at 3:45; at 4:15, the tears begin rolling down his face.
As of Thursday evening, the video has been viewed almost 2.25 million times.
Activists and the group Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) have said that at least 355 people died in the attack that has provoked international condemnation and shocked the world. The ongoing conflict has killed more than 100,000 people in two years.
