Khashoggi case revelations a Saudi statement to everyone

The Saudi state has via the statement and the press conference of the public prosecution yesterday carried out a major step towards closing the case of murdered journalist and political activist Jamal Khashoggi.

In the important details, the Saudi public prosecution demanded the execution of five of those accused in the murder of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi. During a press conference held in Riyadh on Thursday, 11 people out of the 21 people who were interrogated were charged.

The public prosecution clarified in its statement which was read out during the press conference that the case was transferred to court and that the investigation is ongoing with the rest of the detainees to reach the truth and understand their role. It demanded executing those who ordered the murder and those who carried it out with them, and their number is five, and to impose the appropriate penalties on the rest.

Hence, we are before a legal and sovereign Saudi control over this tragic file to put it on the right path and end its use as a political mine or its political exploitation as the French foreign minister described the Turkish behavior towards the excessive propaganda of this case.

Many have tried and are still trying to milk this case and exploit it to the maximum against the entire of Saudi Arabia and especially against the ambitious project led by the crown prince who is the hope of Saudi Arabia and the rational Arabs Prince Mohammed bin Salman. However, the Saudi prosecution’s brave revelations drew the correct map for the path.

After the dust clears out and the global fuss over the crisis of the Jamal Khashoggi’s murder in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul falls silent, there will still be plenty and what’s interesting to learn lessons through and from, whether on the Saudi, media, intelligence and diplomatic levels. Knowing who the enemies are and who the friends are has become clearer.

What’s more important, as emphasized by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman before him, is that Saudi Arabia’s war on extremism is ongoing. There is no solace to those who bet on scaring Saudi Arabia with the Khashoggi case so it alters its course. The path is clear, before and after the Khashoggi crisis.
