Obama adviser urges Hamas to stop firing rockets on Israel

Published: Updated:

Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser to President Barack Obama, has called on Hamas to stop firing rockets on Israel to allow for a “de-escalation” of the current crisis.

“What we would like to see is an outcome in which there is a return to no-rocket fire coming out of Gaza and that there is a pathway to de-escalation,” Rhodes told Al Arabiya’s senior correspondent in Washington Nadia Bilbassy.

“If there is rocket fire coming out of Gaza, Israel has made it clear that they are going to respond to that through the types of military action that they are taking,” he added.
