First footage showing Iraqi Christians who fled ISIS-controlled areas

Published: Updated:

A video Tuesday showed Iraqi Christians who fled parts of the country that are now under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)

Iraqi Christians have fled the northern city of Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city, after the militants imposed a deadline on them to convert to Islam, pay a tax or face death.

Many of the Christians said they had to leave most of their belongings behind and that gunmen had stolen much of what they did manage to take along.

The video shows Iraqi Christians recuperating from their ordeal of fleeing their home towns, gathering together in a communal area and sharing in some bread and water.
