Video shows aftermath of Israeli shelling of U.N. school

Published: Updated:

Israel shelled on Sunday a United Nations school sheltering some 3,000 displaced people in southern Gaza, in an attack that was condemned by the United Nations and the United States.

The video posted on YouTube shows the carnage after the Israeli shelling of the U.N.-run school in Gaza.

The U.S. denounced the attack in language that was rare in its directness and severity.

“The coordinates of the school, like all UN facilities in Gaza, have been repeatedly communicated to the Israel Defense Forces,” Jen Psaki, the State Department spokeswoman, said.

“We once again stress that Israel must do more to meet its own standards and avoid civilian casualties,” the statement added.
